Mastery-Based Learning Institute: Assessment Practices

The outcomes for the MBL Learning Institute is to clarify the role of standards and performance indicators in a mastery-based learning system; understand the role of task-neutral scoring criteria in determining student’s demonstration of mastery; develop and/or refine summative assessments, aligned to standards and performance indicators; learn specific tools and protocols to assist in developing and tuning assessments; understand how both summative and formative assessments drive instructional design; and develop a plan for sharing this work with colleagues in school settings
